Perform a silent (msi) installation

When SCIA Engineer needs to be installed on multiple computers in a company, then it might be interesting to do a batch installation of SCIA Engineer.

For a silent installation you can use the .msi file which you can find in the DISK1 folder when you have downloaded the full setup (distribution setup) of SCIA Engineer.

Following document describes the command line parameters which you can set during the installation:

 

Remarks:

  • it is not possible to define the location of folders (Temp folder, Autosave folder, ...) during the msi-installation. You can change these locations after the installation via the registry. For SCIA22.0 it is following location in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SCIA\Esa\22.0\Admin\Dir
  • the prereqs (Visual C++) are not installed with the msi installation. You can install them before the msi-installation or you can use the Setup.exe file for a silent install with e.g. Bootstrapper (with the same parameters as described in the document above)
