A section on a 1D member can be applied when you only want to display results in a specific location of the element. The only function of a section lies in the graphical representation of results. The results on a 1D member are by default calculated in 10 sections; in between the sections interpolation is used. This is illustrated in the next example for the moment My:

The number of sections can be increased by modifying the option ‘Number of sections on average member’ within the ‘Solver setup(Main menu > Tools > Calculation & Mesh > Solver settings). This allows you to obtain more precise results.

The section on a 1D member can be accessed via Input panel > workstation Structure > category Boundary conditions > Section on 1D. The properties of this type of section only consist of the position of the section on the 1D member.

After inputting a section on 1D you need to (re)calculate the model, so a result can be calculated in this specific section.

In order to display the results only in the inputted section, it is necessary to select the option ‘Selected’ for the property ‘Results in sections’ and more specifically the option ‘Inputted’ for the setting ‘Selected sections’ within the property panel.

The result is only shown in the point on the beam where the section is defined.
