River House in Bratislava, Slovak Republic Engineering Office: Prodis Plus s.r.o. (Ltd.) Software: Nexis, Scia Engineer The River House is the main building in the multifunctional River Park complex on the left bank of the Danube in Bratislava. The complex has an irregular trapezoidal shape and consists of four elevated blocks which include 203 luxury residences, above-standard offices and a five-star hotel. Three common underground storeys (264 x 53 m) house the parking spaces and technical facilities for all the blocks. The hydrostatic pressure from underground water here is very high; consequently, the foundations comprise 900 and 1,200 mm diameter bored piles embedded in the stone base. The building itself has eight storeys and stands on two cores and a pair of piers; a prestressed concrete transfer structure was required on the first and second storey. The slabs have a complicated shape with several levels, various thicknesses and spans. The largest bay has a span of 8.80 x 7.35 m; the largest cantilever overhang is 3.45 m long.
