With more than 30 years of experience with the Eurocodes, SCIA Engineer includes numerous functionalities, methods and references, prescribed by these standards. The design according to the Eurocodes in SCIA Engineer extends through multiple program modules, most of which are dedicated to a particular Eurocode part. Most modules allow for nationally determined parameters.

Besides the implementation of the Eurocode methodology, SCIA Engineer contains a library of national annexes where country-specific methods and parameters are available. The Manager for National Annexes allows the user to verify and adapt nationally determined parameters.

Within SCIA Engineer it is possible to automatically generate load combinations according to recent International Building Codes (IBC 2012 & 2006) as well as the specification for Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE 7-10 & 7-05).

SCIA Engineer is more and more interested in the overseas market. Besides the implementation for the US market there are also many improvements for design and check functionalities for concrete and steel structure according to the Brazilian code (NBR). 

Serviceability design criteria are important for people's comfort, as well as the integrity of separation walls, façades and other non-load-bearing elements and finishes. This is why we put an additional focus on this aspect of the design of steel members and we extended the existing check of Relative deflection.

Version 19.0 extensions focus on quality and give a final polishing of this design functionality: users will find various smaller and larger improvements in the checks, output, AutoDesign as well as a noticeable improvement in performance.

Design of 2D concrete elements for ULS+SLS based on EN 1992-1-1:2004

SCIA Engineering Report 17.01 introduces a new and improved 2D member with extended functionality that gives users greater control and flexibility over the 2D member’s behaviour and includes new options to efficiently model diaphragms for lateral load transfer.
